Money
Balboa coins and USD The Balboa (B/.) is the Panamanian currency. But, this only exists virtually (i.e. in our imagination). Since Panama became a Republic in 1903, the United States Dollar has been legal tender. You will never see Balboa Notes, since they are forbidden by law (interestingly, the Panamanian Government cannot print notes), but you might find in your change some Balboa coins, which are identical in size and value as the US Dollar coins. You should also bear in mind that most businesses do not take $50 or $100 notes, so we recommend you to always try to pay using small notes.

Electricity
